Looking back at 2013, I must say that it was a fantastic season for sawing. I certainly was busy! The best part though, is the people that I meet. There is always a certain connection made that can make “work” wonderful. We sure had some beautiful work sites – up the shore and in the woods. I’ve enjoyed each work site. The stories that I hear from each person of their particular project is fascinating. Vern will be rebuilding his 100 year old family farmstead to it’s original specs. Mark reclaimed a submerged log from one of our many lakes and will share the wood with his lakeshore neighbors. Each person will have a different project for their wood. Mike has a variety of projects that he wants to do, therefore we cut a variety of 1x’s, 2x’s, and timbers.
Wow, what a crazy spring!! It has been a bit challenging, but today is the first day of summer! I love the Summer Solstice! We have been getting around this spring. We have been to various locations around Duluth and Carlton, MN; Frederick, WI; Solon Springs, WI; and soon we’ll be headed to Webster, WI. We have been sawing mostly pine and some oak. Some of what has been cut will be flooring for Meredith and Ethan’s new home, livestock buildings for Darrin’s cattle, bar tops to go wherever, and we’ve been doing a bit of quarter sawing oak.
We have had the opportunity to saw with Allen again. Sawing trailer decking was part of the job. We cut 2 1/4″ x 12″ (and random widths) x 20′ long decking boards. We all agreed that they turned out really nice – almost too nice to be used for a equipment trailer!
